Free Journal Entry #2:
1. I've noticed that the animals or creatures that live in the tide-pools compete with each other especially for food and living space (shelter).
2. Although I haven't noticed predation (predator-prey interaction) yet, I'm sure it will come though.
3. I also have noticed that since these animals or creature do not have a lot of living space that it's (kind of) necessary for them to compete with each other. It's in their nature.
4. I noticed competition between the hermit crabs when they were fighting over a dead fish. That was so cool!
5. Again, I like observing the tide-pools because they're many different small ecosystems in one general area, how much better could it be!
Assigned Journal Entry #2: Describe a community interaction that you see evidence of (either direct or indirect).
These can be:
o predator-prey relationships
o symbioses
o competition
o invasive species
As you saw in my observations for Day 1 I noticed competition between hermit crabs in one tide-pool environment. These hermit crabs were fitting over a dead fish, when animals or creatures are in such a small secluded area their natural instinct is to compete over things such as: food, living space, etc. So just watch this cool video of hermit crabs fighting and jumping all over each other to get (eat) this dead fish (FOOD!).
